Returning from periphery to centre through the various cortexes – or abilities - inherent to mankind’s structure has always referred to the proceeding through the labyrinth . Each step corresponds to the old man’s renouncement, as Grace progressively invites him to proceed forward to the unfolding of heaven’s will, towards the unveiling of the divine mysteries. In Christian symbolism, such labyrinth leads to the base of the Cross, to the base of the world axis . During medieval times, the congregation would kneel down and proceed through those cathedral labyrinths, converging to a centre symbolizing Jerusalem. |
